I MAKE THINGS
Hi, Iām Jade! I am a genderfluid multimedia artist, musician & UC Berkeley alum, currently based in the Bay Area. I moved to the United States from South Africa when I was a teenager and making art was a grounding force in my life that helped me feel like I was home in my body while adjusting to many extreme changes, both in my environment and within myself. I am almost thirty now and have grown closer and closer to myself and the world around me through my art practice since then.
The combination of being raised Jewish and growing up in country affected so horrifically by apartheid taught me to have a profoundly deep respect for life on this planet and for the marginalized people of this world including the the many people in Palestine currently trying to survive the horrors being inflicted upon them daily.
Right now I've been particularly interested in making surreal works about love, grief, and magic as a means to tether myself and the people around me to this earth and to one another. Through my life and through my art practice I hope to continue to explore different parts of my experience and a collective human experience that will hopefully provoke people to reflect on themselves and maybe even feel a little less alone.
